Today is the day! All 50 girls arrived at Mobile Regional Airport for the beginning of what I consider to be the most fun 2 weeks of your life! I had so much fun hanging out at the airport all day, greeting each girl as she walked out the terminal.
I would like to make a special shout out and give praise to a remarkable woman in my life, Carole Hegwood, HEAD Mom of Distinguished Young Woman. Never have I met an individual that was more organized, put together, and on top of things than you. To add on to this, you are so talented and have a genuine enthusiasm that lights up the room. You deserve a plastic name tag and medallion in my book.
And to Elizabeth. Your ability to get things done while also keeping the environment stress free and fun, is truly inspiring and my day gets instantly brighter every time I’m in your presence. Thank you for going above and beyond to make this experience unforgettable. To ALL the volunteer mom’s this week: THANK YOU to you too! You all have touched my life in such a special way and this program would not be what it is without you.
My chaperone Kathy and I went to lunch with past National Winner, Katye Brock and her son William. We managed to squeeze in an ice cream run before we made it back to the airport for the arrival ceremony. đ
Watching each girl walk down the steps of the airport as I read off the names was so surreal because I can remember one year ago walking down those same steps, not even knowing what waited ahead of me. I can’t wait to love on these girls and experience this special time with them. Stay tuned for all the fun activities we will be doing this week!Â
Love always,
