Last weekend I had a cool opportunity to go to BISMARK North Dakota to celebrate our new Miss America at her official homecoming party. As I touched down on a snowy runway I was filled with excitement and anticipation to be reunited with my Miss America sisters.
The first night I had an amazing dinner with Cecili and Katie (Miss VA and PA) then we got ice cream at Cold Stone and looked at chinchillas at Pet’s Mart. (because what else do you do in Bismarck?!)
In the morning we added Angelina and Cheyenne (Miss AK and WY) and went out to explore chilly Bismark. We got a little lost trying to find our coffee shop but we ended up in a cute little old fashioned café with a million drinks to choose from.
We sat there for awhile telling stories about our lives post Miss America and catching up on funny stories. As we explored downtown we found the cutest little alley with so many colorful murals so we obviously had to stop for a quick photo shoot.
I love these girls so much. I mean, look how cute they are.
Also Cecili is a model.
Pretty accurate depiction of all the people in Bismarck 🙂
My hood covers my eyes so I basically walked around North Dakota like this all weekend.
Poor Cecili’s luggage never made it to Bismark so we took her on a shopping spree to get some dresses and clothes for the weekend’s festivities. (Not a bad situation if you ask me!)
In the process of boutique hopping we stumbled upon the coffee shop we meant to go to originally and popped in to find a group of men having their weekly guitar jam sesh so we listened to them and played life size jenga.
By the time we got all that shopping done we were starving so we stopped in The Starving Rooster for lunch naturally for some MAC AND CHEESE. YUM.
In the afternoon we joined up with Miss CT, RI, TX, NJ, DC, MO, MN and MISS AMERICA for the welcome party.
It was so amazing to see so many people from North Dakota come out to celebrate Cara and witness how proud she has made all of them. She’s doing an amazing job as Miss America and is a fantastic representative of our class.
We love you Cara!! After the welcome party we threw on some gowns and headed to the University of Mary for the gala where we toasted, feasted and danced all in Cara’s honor.
It was a ball. (literally haha)
The best part of the whole weekend was spending time with my Miss America girls because they are truly my best friends and it was so good to spend time with them outside of competition. I had a 4:30am flight so I almost decided to pull an all-nighter and stay up with them all night, but I forgot with daylight savings, that would mean an extra hour of staying awake so I went for a 3 hour nap before I flew back to Seattle so I could make it home in time for Miss Thurston County pageant that night.
What a whirlwind!! This is definitely one of my busiest months on the job, but I wouldn’t have it any other way because I love traveling, I love being with friends and making new friends all over the country.
I can’t wait for our next reunion which, I’ll let you in on a little secret… is coming up soon in the big apple!!! I’ll save the rest for later, but leave you hanging for now. 😉
Thank you so much for reading today! It would mean a lot to me if you went to the HOME page and entered in your email on the right side of the page.
