I don’t know if you know this about me, but I’m a photographer!! I’ve had my own business for almost 10 years and last week it took me to Austin, Texas for a jam packed weekend shoot.
I was able to take an extra day to see my girl Margana (Miss Texas) after the shoot and she took me ALL OVER THE TOWN!
Mar went to UT Austin so she knew the lay of the land better than anyone else and gave me the most fun day and a half of my life.
The night before, I checked out Gourdough’s Doughnuts. I’m not sure I need to say anything else. (okay I will… cream cheese frosting, bananas, pecans, brown sugar crumble HELLO)
We started the morning at Blenders and Bowls for an acai bowl that made me feel like I was back in California. Mmmmm so good.
Margana told me we were hiking a mountain so I prepared myself for a strenuous hike to find that 30 seconds later we were at the top. hahhaa
I’m dead serious, I think it took less than a minute, but Mount Bonnell was BEAUTIFUL and a great place to go to see the whole city of Austin.
It’s like our souls are one because she somehow knew peacocks are my favorite animal so she took me to Mayfield Park where there are literally peacocks EVERYWHERE.
Roaming. Free. I almost died.
I mean look at these beautiful creatures!!! So amazing.
Austin has the most epic wall murals so we spent most of our day running around finding the coolest ones and showing off our best poses.
I told Marg I wanted BBQ for lunch so when she took me to a gas station I was a little skeptical, but Rudy’s is the real deal y’all.
We got the extra moist brisket and pulled pork, spread out the paper on our table and grubbed up!
We had to make a stop at the famous Jo’s coffee for some iced concoction that I don’t even want to know how much sugar is in it, but boy did that get me out of my afternoon drowsiness!!
Stopping at Graffiti Park was the BEST IDEA EVER. Especially after a Jo’s Coffee. Levels of cement, covered in art made the perfect backdrop for my debut of the Fresh Prince of Belair theme song. (see my IG story highlight for the full video hahahah)
Dinner at Z’Tejas was super yummy. Mac and cheese, queso and corn bread. Doesn’t sound like it goes together and it doesn’t. But it was delicious.
As if we hadn’t eaten enough food, we ended the night at Lick Ice Cream. Super yummy organic and fresh made ice cream. I tried the snickerdoodle cookie dough and butter pecan! Oh and Peanut Butter Brownie. 😉
So so thankful for my time in Austin, more because I got to spend time with this sweet friend. Margana, you ARE my butter half!! Do you all like when I share where I ate and what I did when I travel? Or do you just like to see pictures? I’m trying to figure out which direction to take this blog and want to know if you like the travel tips and recommendations!
Let me know in the comments below! Thank you AGAIN for reading today and supporting me on this journey! It means the world to meet and I’m thankful for you.
Have a great week!
