Apple Crisp Recipe (Cozy Fall Dessert)

Nothing says cozy quite like a warm apple crisp fresh from the oven. You all loved my mini, single serve version so much and kept asking me for a fulll version so here it is!

This version is baked in an 8×8 pan, making it the perfect size for sharing with family or a small gathering. Sweet-tart apples are tossed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of brown sugar, then topped with a buttery oat crumble that bakes into golden, crunchy perfection. It’s a classic fall dessert that fills your kitchen with the most comforting aroma and tastes just as good as it smells.

What I love most about this apple crisp is how simple it is to make, yet how impressive it feels when served. The topping strikes the right balance of buttery and crisp without being too heavy, while the apples soften into a delectable, spiced filling underneath. Whether you enjoy it on its own, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a dollop of whipped cream, this recipe is a cozy treat you’ll want to come back to all season long. Let me know if you make it and how you serve it, I hope you enjoy!

Apple Crisp

Yield: about 9 servings

⏱️Prep Time: 15 min | Bake Time: 35-40 min

Ingredients:

Apple Filling:

  • 3 medium honey crisp apples (Granny Smith also works great), cored, chopped
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt (about ⅛ tsp)

Crisp Topping:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar (or mix light/dark if you like deeper flavor)
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (about ⅛ tsp)
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted (up to 8 Tbsp if you like it richer, but 6 keeps it lighter & golden)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch pan.
  2. Make the filling: In a large bowl, toss chopped apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spread evenly in the pan.
  3. Make the topping: In another bowl, stir together oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in melted butter and mix until clumps form.
  4. Assemble: Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples and press down slightly.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  6. Cool slightly before serving (the juices will thicken as it rests). Serve a la mode with some ice cream and enjoy!
