With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, these easy desserts are the perfect thing to make for your loved ones or Galentine’s Day party. I’m going to show you how to use the same ingredients two different ways to simplify your planning and make your hosting that much easier.
Today we are making love letter pastries and strawberry pop tarts. I hope you love them! Let me know if you try them and which is your favorite!
Love Letter Pastries
Ingredients:
- 1 Can Premade Pie Crust (I used Pillsbury)
- 1 Can Strawberry Pie Filling or Jelly (or favorite pie filling)
- 1 Egg White
- Turbinado sugar (optional for garnishing)
Directions:
1. Flour your surface and roll out pie crust flat.
2. Using a small knife, cut the edges off so the circle becomes a square.
3. As accurately as you can, cut even squares out of the remaining dough (if you have a square cookie cutter you can use that)
4. Rotate the small square of dough so one of the points is pointing up like a diamond. Put a dollop of strawberry pie filling in the center.
5. Take the two corner points on the side and bring them together. Bring the bottom point up to close the envelope.
5. Using a small heart cookie cutter, cut out a heart from your remaining dough.
6. Brush the pie dough with egg white and place the heart in the middle of the envelope as a “seal”. If decorating with turbinado sugar, brush the top of the heart with egg white as well and sprinkle the sugar. If not, you can just brush the spot in the middle with egg white to secure the heart.
7. Place pastries on a baking sheet and bake at 375 for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Enjoy!
