After exploring and going into almost every single museum in Florence, my favorite building by far is the Opera del Duomo. I walk past this enormous structure every day and never get sick of it.
I always stare in awe of the intricate detail and beautiful designs that cover every square inch of the massive church. I love the history and significance of the dome and actually had the chance to climb to the top!!
It’s actually really cool because the way Bruneleschi constructed the dome was with 2 domes! A Dome in a dome! So as you climb to the top, you are walking in between the two domes. This picture kind of shows the stair case that goes up between the inner and outer dome.
If you’re looking to take your stair master workout to the next level, hop on over to Florence and climb to the top of the Duomo. 456 stairs later you will not only feel accomplished, but be rewarded with one of the most amazing views of your life. Check it out.
