I remember thinking I was so cool when I got the newest iPhone 4. I finally had the latest software with the battery that seemed to last SO much longer than my other phone. Two days later, Apple came out with the iPhone 6 and now my little baby 4 looked like a bright pink flip phone with a battery that lasts about 4 hours in comparison to the fancy new mini tablets. Seriously. It’s gotten quite fond of it’s wire tail though since it spends a majority of the day plugged into one.
Thank goodness my mom bought me one of those snazzy phone cases with an external battery pack in it so when mine is just about out of juice, I can turn on the button and switch over to the battery pack and have a whole new day’s worth of energy.
I’ve found this scenario to be extremely accurate in my life as well. Life has been hard lately. I mean just down right difficult times that suck the life out of me! I find that some days I can’t even make it to lunch without feeling ultimately defeated and discouraged. I simply can not do life on my own and I always run out of energy and strength.
Then I thought about my iPhone. Just like it’s battery can’t make it on it’s own, neither can I. But the good news is, you and I have access to an all powerful God who has more strength than we can imagine and HE is our external source of energy.
In Ephesians 6:11 it says, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” By “plugging in” to God and going to Him for our strength, we are putting on His armor in full trust that He will protect us like a phone case and be the strength and energy we need when our battery runs out.
Before my day even begins, I want to immediately “plug in” to God’s strength and not even try to make it through a portion of my day on my own because I already know I won’t make it!
One last thing. Don’t get down on yourself because you can’t do it on your own. Celebrate in your weaknesses because now you need God for your source of strength and throughout the whole process HE will be glorified through you! He wants us to depend on Him!
“His strength is made perfect in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9
You are strong because He is alive and He is yours!
Love always,
