I love the few days between Christmas and New Years because I find that I spend a big portion of my day reflecting on the year I had and digesting everything I’ve learned.
I had no idea what amazing things God had in store for me for 2015, but now that I sit at almost the end of it and look back, I’m in awe at what remarkable things He’s done.
This year I’ve been to 9 countries including, England, Scotland, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
I completed my job as an RA, which was a job I NEVER thought I had the strength or ability to do.
I worked at America’s largest media company which afforded me the opportunity to meet people like Ryan Seacrest and Hilary Duff and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
I packed my bags and moved half way around the world to study abroad in a country I knew practically nothing about and took every opportunity to travel, even if it meant by myself.
The week I got back from New Zealand I competed in Miss City of Orange and now will compete for Miss California in June. (I still can’t believe this WHAT?!)
I don’t tell you these things to be a highlight reel of my life and boast about how amazing my life is, because there were PLENTY of trials and hard things I went through this year.
Rather, I tell you these things to boast about Jesus and how utterly amazed I am about how beautiful He can make our lives and what He can do with our dreams when we submit them to Him.
In my last blog I talked a lot about setting dreams and goals for this New Year. At the top of my list of goals is “Get closer to Jesus”. God is my #1 goal. He’s biggest dream and He always will be.
Because I’m His daughter, He’s stretched me to set other, personal goals and ask Him for things that my heart is passionate about, but I’m happy to be at a point in my life where I would give up all of my biggest, deepest, most wished for dreams if it was between those and my #1 goal.
If God told me to ditch my dreams and follow Him, I would do it.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”- Matthew 16:24
“Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”- Mark 10:21
I’m just a human. I might think I know what’s best for me, but sometimes I really don’t. But God does. So when I give up my dreams and put them into His hands, I know that He will give me just what I need and when I need it. He might even have a better idea and a bigger dream for me than I do! (His brain is bigger than ours you know 😉
As you set your dreams and goals for 2016, ask God what He thinks and what His dreams for you are. I think you’ll be amazed to know that He has something awesome planned for you.
Let’s keep the #1 thing, the #1 thing this year.
Love always,
Nicole #dostuff #dreambig #lifewithoutlimits
