If you look around, you’ll notice the world tells you you need to get more love, but I think we need to give more love.
I don’t get why people are so stingy with love. We pick and choose who to be nice to and we never allow ourselves to fully love someone because we are afraid they won’t love us in return.
Being rejected love by other humans is a really hard situation, whether it was part of your childhood growing up, a mean best friend or a tragic past relationship. These experiences we’ve all gone through have conditioned us to believe that love is fake, shallow and quite frankly doesn’t mean a whole lot.
I think parts of our hearts become bitter toward loving people after we’ve experienced heart break because we think, “well if I’m not loved, then why should I love them?”
The problem with this is, we look to imperfect humans who mess up, as our standard for love. We also measure the amount of love we believe we deserve based off the capacity that humans have to love or that we have experienced in the past.
But what if we looked at God? God has perfect love. God is love. God’s love never runs out. When we use God as our standard of love, all of a sudden all of the pain associated with love goes away because He, and only He knows how to love us fully.
It’s so hard for us to grasp, but whether or not you believe you deserve it, God’s love for you is beyond what you can even think. As soon as we let ourselves receive that love, our perspective shifts and we can now love others out of the awareness that God loves us.
“We love Him, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
When we finally live out of the reality of God’s love towards us, we can afford to be generous with our love because it never runs out!
There’s no reason to hang onto our love with clenched fists as if it will run away if we let go because nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. So ease up! Jesus doesn’t give us enough just to get by, He fills us to the top & leaves us OVERFLOWING so we have extra to share with others.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God.” Romans 8:38-39
We were designed to love Him, & through Him, He wants us to love others. Don’t worry about not having enough love because His love never stops, never fails, and is unconditional. So go love people like you are made of it. Because you are.
