If you love making coffee at home, a good vanilla syrup is a must-have. It’s the secret to turning your basic brew into a coffee shop–style drink without the price tag. This homemade vanilla syrup is simple, delicious, and made with just a few pantry staples. It’s perfect for sweetening your morning latte, cold brew, iced coffee, or even tea—and it’s easy enough for beginners to make in just a few minutes.

Store-bought syrups can be filled with artificial flavors and preservatives, but this version is made with real ingredients and has that rich, warm vanilla flavor you know and love. All you need is water, sugar, and vanilla extract—or, if you want to get a little fancy, a whole vanilla bean for even more depth of flavor. You’ll end up with a smooth, sweet syrup that blends beautifully into hot or cold drinks.

This recipe makes a batch big enough to last you for weeks, and it stores well in the fridge so you can enjoy vanilla-flavored coffee anytime. Once you make it yourself, you’ll never want to go back to store-bought. Whether you’re a coffee lover, a latte enthusiast, or just looking for a way to level up your daily cup, this homemade vanilla syrup is a game-changer. Let me know if you try it!

Vanilla Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbs vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Combine water and sugar in a medium sauce pot over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Stir every few minutes to keep the sugar from sticking to the bottom.
  3. Once sugar is dissolved and reduced by 50% remove from heat.
  4. Stir in vanilla and let cool.
  5. Transfer to a syrup bottle (linking some of my favorites HERE) and enjoy for up to 3 weeks!
