Kiwi Passionfruit Smoothie Bowl

If there’s one place that completely captured my heart during college, it’s New Zealand. I had the opportunity to study abroad there, and I instantly fell in love — with the stunning landscapes, the kind-hearted people, and the deep, beautiful traditions of Māori culture. It’s a place that left a lasting impression on me, and today I’m sharing a smoothie bowl inspired by that unforgettable experience. This kiwi passionfruit smoothie bowl is bursting with tropical flavor and bright, tangy goodness — just like the vibrant energy of New Zealand itself. The base blends up into a creamy, refreshing green from fresh kiwi and juicy passion fruit, and it’s topped with some truly special touches: more slices of kiwi, golden drizzles of Manuka honey (a nod to one of NZ’s most famous exports), and fresh passion fruit. To bring it all together, I spelled out “kia ora” — a warm Māori greeting meaning “be well” or “hello” — using slices of dragon fruit.

Whether you’ve visited New Zealand or are simply dreaming of the day you will, this bowl is a tribute to the land of the long white cloud — a taste of summer, a taste of culture, and a whole lot of nourishment in every bite.

Kiwi Passionfruit Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 frozen kiwi (I peel and cut mine into chunks prior to blending for easy blending)
  • 1/4 cup frozen passion fruit chunks

Toppings:

  • fresh kiwi chunks
  • passion fruit
  • Manuka honey
  • dragon fruit

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a bowl and top with your favorite ingredients.
  3. ENJOY!
