There are certain things I always assumed just had to come from a store and peanut butter was one of those things I never thought about. Then I made it at home for the first time and genuinely could not believe how easy it was, or how much better it tasted. We’re talking four ingredients max, one food processor or blender, and about 10 minutes of your time. That’s it. No stabilizers, no added sugar, no oils you can’t pronounce β just peanuts, honey, a little oil, and a pinch of salt if you want it. Clean, simple, and so much more satisfying knowing exactly what went into it.
This is the kind of recipe that fits right into that “making more things from scratch” mindset that I’ve been really leaning into lately. It’s not about being perfect or overhauling everything in your pantry overnight β it’s just about swapping out one store-bought thing at a time for something you made yourself with real ingredients. Peanut butter is one of the easiest places to start because the ingredient list should be short anyway, and yet most jars at the grocery store have a surprising amount of stuff in them that doesn’t need to be there. When you make it at home you’re in complete control of what goes in, and that feels really good especially when you’re making food for your kids.

The honey is what makes this one special. It adds just enough natural sweetness to make this feel like a treat without going overboard, and it pairs with the roasted peanut flavor in a way that tastes like something you’d pay a lot of money for at a fancy grocery store. Willa is obsessed with this on apple slices and toast, and I’ve been stirring it into smoothies, drizzling it over oatmeal, and eating it straight off the spoon more times than I’ll admit. It keeps in the fridge for weeks and honestly tastes better than anything I’ve ever bought at the store.
If you’ve never made nut butter at home before, this is the one to start with. It requires basically zero cooking skill, the food processor does all the work, and the payoff is enormous. Once you make it yourself you’ll wonder why you ever bought it in the first place β and then you’ll start eyeing every other jar in your pantry wondering what else you can make from scratch. Consider this your gateway recipe. Let’s make it.

Honey Peanut Butter
Ingredients
- 2 cups roasted, salted peanuts
- ΒΌ tsp salt (if using unsalted peanuts)
- 2 Tbs neutral oil (if needed)
- 2 Tbs honey
Instructions
- Blend peanuts (and salt if using unsalted peanuts) in a high speed blender for 8-10 min. You may have to take breaks because your blender and peanuts will get HOT. I blend in 1-2 min increments.
- Add oil 1 Tbs at a time and blend if you want a thinner consistency.
- Stir honey into finished peanut butter once desired consistency is reached.
- Store in a jar and enjoy!
