During my trip I covered some serious ground and walked through almost every neighborhood which each have their own special aesthetics and cultures.
The landscape and food are about as diverse as the neighborhoods and everyone I met was so friendly. After spending a few days there I fell in love with the city and already want to go back! If San Francisco is not on your list, it should be!
The yummy food, iconic sights and eclectic cultural scene make San Francisco an amazing place to visit.
THE HILLS: Have you ever seen Princess Diaries? Remember the scene where she’s driving up the hill?? The hills in San Francisco are no joke so if you’re driving a car, be careful and if you’re walking, prepare for a good booty workout.

$$$: San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in the country. My lyft and ubers were more expensive than usual and the food is more expensive here. Just be aware!
Trolley: You’re in San Francisco! Take the iconic Trolley Cars at least once while you’re there!

Lyft and Uber are more expensive in SF than other cities so be aware! Public transportation is good and fairly easy to use but if you’re up for it and are physically able, walk! It’s the best way to see the city, get your exercise in and see it all!
Sweet Maple: This might be the best breakfast I’ve ever had in my whole life. Sweet Maple is famous for their “millionaires bacon” which is two thick slices of free range bacon baked with brown sugar, cayenne red and black pepper. It was to DIE FOR and definitely worth the extra $$. I had that with the Frisco scramble….. holy yummm.
Squat and Gobble: Squat and Gobble has all of your breakfast favorites like eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles etc but their crepes are something else. I had the chicken pesto crepe and it tasted even better because I ate it in their adorable outdoor patio in the back with a stunning colorful alley way.
Jane: This cute little bistro has all the goods from avocado toast, pitaya bowls and quinoa oatmeal. This is a great stop for a healthy breakfast and good cup of coffee.
Vive la Tarte: I love the atmosphere in this restaurant. This restaurant is in a big open space and you can actually see the kitchen when you walk up to order! Visit here for yummy salads, fresh made pizzas, pastries and sandwiches.
Lemondade: If you’re looking for a healthy meal, Lemonade has you covered. Fresh cold, seasonal salads in the display case every day or you can make your own rice bowl.
The Plant Cafe Organic: The Plant Cafe Organic has all your organic blends. Rice bowls, sandwiches, smoothies and salads will keep your belly full for all your adventures.
The Tipsy Pig: The Tipsy Pig has a great Happy Hour. All their drinks come in mason jars and they have REALLY GOOD mac & cheese. The sliders are yummy too!
Ghirardelli: I don’t think I need to say anything about this since you all are already aware of my crazy obsession with Ghirardelli. If you didn’t know, San Francisco is the birthplace of Ghirardelli so Ghirardelli Square is definitely a place you should check out. Read my article about all their yummy ice cream sundaes to help you decide. 🙂
Mr. Holmes Bakery: I’m so glad I stumbled across this little bakery because I was introduced to the best chocolate, coffee croissant I’ve ever had in my whole life. They also have amazing cookies and cream filled donuts!
Bi-Rite Creamery: If Ghirardelli didn’t satisfy your ice cream craving (don’t know if that’s possible, if so, we need to talk) Bi-Rite has some really fun flavors and a cute little shop in the Mission District!
Golden Gate Park: This was my FAVORITE part of San Francisco hands down. This park is similar to Central Park in NYC and actually designed by the same guy! What I like about this park though is that it’s bigger and you can’t see any of the city when you’re in it so you don’t feel like you’re in the city at all. There is a flower garden, science museum and even bison in this park!! I could have walked around for hours here.
Clarion Alley: The Clarion Alley Mission Project is an alleyway in the Mission District covered in murals painted by local artists. It’s such a cool little part of town!
Embarcadero: Walking down the embarcadero is the perfect way to spend your afternoon. You can visit the Ferry Building and soak in all the stunning views of the waterfront as you make your way down and around to Fisherman’s Wharf
Ferry Building: The Ferry Building is a fun indoor market with yummy food and cool shops. This is also the terminal for the ferry rides. (Hence “Ferry Building”)
Pier 39/Fisherman’s Wharf: 2 San Francisco’s iconic destinations are Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. Here you can catch the sea lions basking in the sun, amazing clam chowder in the famous sour dough bread bowls and stunning views of the bay.
Ghirardelli Square: Ghirardelli Square is the perfect place to grab an ice cream cone and eat it picnic style on the grass as you look out over the water. This is such a fun area with cute little shops to check out.
Palace of Fine Arts: The Palace of Fine Arts is my favorite part of San Francisco because it feels like you’re in Greece or Italy!! One of the coolest monuments on the edge of the Presidio. Definitely worth checking out.
Golden Gate Bridge: I feel like this one is a no brainer. The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic SF landmark and no trip would be complete without a drive across it or picture by it.
The Painted Ladies: I had to go full tourist for this moment and I literally played the Full House theme song while staring at these beauties from Alamo Park. Great views of the city as well!
Walt Disney Family Museum: If you’re a Disney fan, you’re going to love this. Located in the middle of the Presidio, the Walt Disney Family Museum will take you back and show you how Walt Disney created the empire that exists today. I was so fascinated to learn about his family and how he pioneered so much of the animation and movie industry. Tickets are $25.
Hayes Valley: Hayes Valley has tons of fun boutiques, knick knack shops and food. Its a beautiful walk that will take you right up to Alamo Park where the Painted Ladies are!
Whoo!! There is my complete run down for the amazing city that is San Francisco. Even though I was only there for a short time, I fell in love with the beauty of this diverse city and already want to plan a trip back. Whether you want a busy, activity packed adventure or a laid back trip San Francisco has everything you need for an incredible getaway.
